There are several tourist places to visit in the southern part of Potosi. Tours can begin in the Chilean border and go up to the Salar de Uyuni or the other way around, start in the Salar de Uyuni and visit the most important locations along the south part.

Departure to Uyuni by train: Sundays, Tuesday (D19:30 – A02:20), Wednesdays or Fridays (D14:30 – A21:20).


Day 1. 09:00 or 13:00

Passenger leaves La Paz by bus to Oruro (237km) No services on board. On arrival reception and transfer to the train station. 14:30 or 19:30 departure by train to Uyuni, journey of 7 hours crossing the high-Plato, arrival and transfer to your hotel. (3* only). Option night bus: 19:30 or 20:30 Touristic bus to Uyuni, for about 10 hours, 100% pavement road, arrive next morning to UYUNI. Dinner on board. (Buses have comfortable reclining seats, TV, restroom, ground stewardess, heat). (D)

Day 2.

After breakfast, pick up passengers (4×4 vehicle) in order to visit the train’s cemetery, 5 minutes away from Uyuni. Later we go towards the great Salt Lake of Uyuni, the biggest salt extension in the world. On the way we visit Colchani, a small village near the Salar that processes salt for a living; we continue towards the Incahuasi Island, this singular island is famous for its gigantic cactus. After lunch we continue our trip to the deserts towards Mañica, a small indigenous village where we will spend the night in a hostel with private bathrooms. (D, A, C).

Day 3.

After breakfast we departure from Mañica to a high area of the colored deserts, we cross the Chiguana salt flat, we stop in the Ollague viewpoint, a semi active volcano that can be seen from 15 km. away, three small lagoons with three types of flamingos: Then we cross a wide area of the Siloli desert, we see the Tree Stone, colored lagoon, arriving between 15:30 to 16:00 hrs. approximately. Overnight in a basic-comfort lodge running by locals close the Red Lagoon, with shared bathrooms.  (D, A, C)

Day 4.

Early in the morning after breakfast we depart to visit the Geysers “Sun of Morning” (Sol de Mañana), then stop at the thermal baths of Polques, the Salvador Dali desert, Green Lagoon, then from long drive back to Uyuni, on the way the Valley of the Rocks (Valle de las rocas), San Cristobal our last stop, arrival around 17:30 hrs. Overnight in Uyuni in the same hotel, rest of the day is free at leisure. (B,L).

Day 5.

On wise time departure transfer and flight back to La Paz. On arrival transfer to your hotel. (B available between 07:30 and 09:00 in the hotel – Otherwise during the flight a small breakfast will be served on board).
